As expected, all I wanted to do yesterday was get to the hotel, have a nice long shower and crash. And so I did. After a good night's sleep however, I was able to get up nice and early and explore my surroundings somewhat. And by surroundings I mean a portion of the Luxor hotel and casino. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get lost once or twice, but what do you expect from a hotel that houses 3 different Starbucks' alone? There are about 500 slot machines in the Casino area (once called one-armed bandits, but now double amputees after the infectious 'touchscreenitis' has spread through their ranks...), innumerable restaurants and bars, show halls featuring comedians, musicals and the newest Criss Angel extravaganza. Then there's your food court, spa and pool, etc...
Basically, you could spend a whole week in this hotel alone and never get bored. But games of chance and sedentary amusements are not why I came here. Las Vegas is the starting-off point of my road trip and I shall not be tempted to linger too much. I am checking out in a little while, then will search the city for an AT&T store to get a US Sim card for my phone because roaming charges through my usual operator are insane. Then I will gather up some vital ingredients for a road trip such as snacks and lots of water and then I'll be off. First stop, Hoover Dam!

It was highly recommended by travel guru Rick Steves and I can literally see why - the Eiffel Tower is just around the corner!
