Returned from Puerto Vallarta on April 22 and three days later embarked on a short visit to Vernon, British Columbia from Calgary, Alberta.

Calgary was a rude awakening, hovering somewhere around 8 degrees Celsius when I landed. A far cry from the 30 plus degrees I'd been experiencing in Puerto Vallarta. After dusting off the long sleeved shirts and full length pants, I headed out the door.

From the jungles of Mexico to the Canadian Rocky Mountains within 3 days is a bit of culture shock. Palapas faded into memory, forced out by the sheer volume of snow covering most mountain peaks in the Roger's Pass and beyond.

Their sheer volume and enormous presence made me wish I'd looked into a wide angle lens before leaving Calgary. There is simply no way to capture their magnitude without one (Mental note for next trip, wide angle lens...).

Entering the North end of the Okanagan Valley near Sicamous was almost just as shocking. Only the 25th of April and already the abundance of greenery was astonishing compared to the dingy brown still engulfing Calgary.

The further I drove the more lush it became. Farmer's around Armstrong and Spallumcheen were already facing green pastures and the promise of early crops.

Ending the day with a visit to a friend's where I got the opportunity to view his private pond was the perfect way to wrap up the 7 plus hour drive.
