Glendalough. I took a picture of a picture on my camera. Not great, but wanted you to have an idea if what it looked it!
Driving into Arklow, turn the corner, and no big deal but there's a huge old cathedral looking down at us. And the sun is shining.

The road today. With rolling green hills. Ahh... Ireland:)
Having our hot Irish whiskey in the pub with Marie. Yumm.

We left Dublin yesterday for the open road!! Well... Sort of! We drove one hour to Mullingar, Co. Westmeath where my friend Marie lives. Marie was amazing and took us to her family's home for tea, a store/pub (really, it was both!) for a hot whiskey and then to the festival of the fires where there was music, food, drinks, a parade and the lighting of the fire - one of 22 that were lit in the area. It was really unique and fun but very cold despite our half dozen layers. We were eager to come home after to warm up. Thanks again Marie for such a great time!!!

Today we had a late start (after a little too much wine and laughter last night) so didn't make it too far. Took a couple very narrow back roads through the Wicklow mountains (really more like hills) to Glendalough monastery, an amazing historical site built between 900-1200AD. Sadly, I forgot to take pics on my iPhone so no photos to show you until I see you in person.
After Glendalough we stopped at the Avoca weave mill but were too late to see the weavers in action. (we are hoping to see it tomorrow morning though) We did, however, buy some lovely souvenirs:)
Spending the night in Arklow, a beautiful little fishing village on the Irish sea. Found a lovely B&B called Pinebrook and went into town for some very yummy seafood at a pub/restaurant (?) called Christies. Seriously amazing food!!
