The Long Beach Pyramid
Death Before Decaf

Started the day at Death Before Decaf, a coffee shop just down the road from the motel. Tim bought a key ring that espouses the philosophy of Mr. T at the touch of button, needs to be heard to be believed. We took the 405 to Long Beach to visit KKJZ (KJAZZ) jazz radio at CSULB. Close to 40 miles from Santa Monica, but a fairly quick trip on the freeway. They gave us a quick tour of the station and we meet the presenter, Brad Williams, he had the prefect voice for radio, very sexy. KKJZ plays very cool jazz 24/7 and are easy to access via Internet radio. We were close to Huntington Beach so drove down to have a look at one of the best surf beaches on the California Pacific Coast. It was a big bit disappointing. $15 to park at the beach, with off shore oil rigs as a feature of the view in front of you and onshore oil drilling, storage and refining as a feature behind you. Boy, do these people know how to fire truck a beach. Tim did manage a short swim though, not a great beach for swimming, definitely a surf beach. Drove home on Highway 1. Slow, but much more interesting than a freeway. Had to start thinking about packing to catch a plane home tomorrow.
