Yesterday and today were my days off, on Saturday i went to the beach for first time, the sand is golden and coarser than the sand you find in Florida; every view is beautiful. I was invited to have dinner with Dode, Casey, Dode's mother and Casey's Niece Baylee. I really like Dode's mother she is a very sweet lady. At 11:30pm Baylee nocked at my door and told me she needed yo go to the hospital, she had been dealing with some sort of allergies and they seemed to be getting worse. The only hospital in the island is in the town of Lihue a 20+ minute drive from my home in Kalaheo. As soon as I started driving, it also started to rain heavily and it only got worse as I kept trying to see the road, some portions of the road are very curvy and then you reach the main and only highway where you can go as fast as 50 mph.
Baylee was admitted in the ER and I sat in the waiting room watching Court TV.
A few minutes later, a woman in labor arrived; she was waiting to be admitted when all of a sudden I heard a pop noise.. Her water broke just inches away from me it bursted like a fountain through her clothes cascading trough the chair on to the floor. I have to say it brought good memories of my nursing days.
We returned homed by 2:45am and I went to bed. This morning I took Theresa to the studio since she had to work , came home and called my Dad for fathers day,I had plans to do laundry and go to the beach but Dode called me, he wanted to talk about my project for the next two weeks. We went to the club to have the meeting, there was nobody there but the employees trying to make us feel comfortable, catering to every possible need.
Having a meeting in front of the pacific ocean can be challenging; it is hard to concentrate and put your thoughts together when you gave that picture perfect view in front of you.
As the meeting went on I really got in to it because I was really looking forward to discussing the most interesting part of my purpose in the company, the part that motivated me the most to come to Hawaii.
I began by sharing my observations of my first week and proceeded to ask questions about the needs and priorities.
I got a great deal of information and now I have to write a proposal with my recommendations. I think Dode was impressed by the feedback and information I gave him.
He texted me short after to tell me how excited he is about the execution of the initial part of the project which consist of coaching for the management, writing SOP's and creating some sort of employee handbook.
Upon my return home my roommates announced that we had dinner plans to celebrate one of our coworkers birthday at one of the local restaurants in Poipu beach.
It turned out to be very enjoyable.
Tonight we are having Tradewinds advisory, the winds are very strong from 30-50 mph and it's a bit chilly; there is a lot of noyce too. Looks like it is part of the weather in the islands.
Ok I thing this is it for the last two days; tomorrow I begin my sexing week of work at the studio and it is promising to be very busy, lots of events going on so I am very excited about that. My next day off will he a week from tomorrow and Tuesday so I hope I will finally gave time to take good pictures other than with the iPhone.
Love and miss you all.
