As I watch these students today do their work (actually all workshop) I am struck by one very clear, very obvious observation...kids are kids, teenagers are teenagers, people are people...no matter where you go! They love to game on their phones or on their computers, they never seem to get enough sleep, they have the same interests and concerns...kids are kids. I am actually very happy that I came on this trip...it has made me appreciate my students in the states so much! It is only July, but I am ready to get back to school...

Speed of a muon
My crazy idea

Watching the students the past few days I realized they needed a break from their cosmic ray studies. So, I looked up and thought about dropping things...we were certainly in the space for it. I asked the students to determine the speed of a sheet of paper as it struck the ground. It got real crazy with paper flying all over the place...the physicists in the building did not know what was happening?!?! Some of the teachers even started playing with the paper. They had a lot of fun and even some of the groups actually determined the speed!
