HipGeo allows people to easily record and share what they do on their travels, excursions, and vacations using smart phones. We are a Los Angeles based development team with a passion for creating the most convenient way for people to keep track of what they saw, where they saw it, share it, and use what other people share to improve their own trips, excursions, and vacations..

What can I do with HipGeo?

HipGeo is an easy way to record all the moments in your day and share it in a travel blog. HipGeo automatically groups photos, comments, places, tags, likes, and dates together in interesting ways allowing users to search and follow real travelers who go to interesting places. Besides seeing what your friends or family are doing while out and about, you can also access this user generated information to help plan a trip or discover something interesting.

What makes HipGeo different?

We are the lazy person’s travel blog for the smart phone that functions with or without a mobile phone signal. We make it very easy to post photos, locations, places, and travels, and share them with either other HipGeo app users, or on the web via www.hipgeo.com/username in interesting ways. One of our key features is the automatic grouping of content around time, location, and tags, which allows users to share and view posts in a variety of ways: as single entries, as part of a day’s posts, as part of a place’s posts, as part of a tag theme, or as part of a longer trip. Another key feature is our content caching and uploading capabilities which allow users to take pictures and record locations, which are uploaded later via hot spots or when there is a strong mobile phone signal. This is particularly nice when traveling outside of your home country.

Will HipGeo work running in the background? What if my phone is in locked mode? Will it still track me?

Yes - if your phone is in sleep mode, or locked, or our app is in the background, and HipGeo is running with auto recording turned on, it will still track your places and/or routes.

How do I join HipGeo?

The best way to join is to download the free HipGeo app from the AppStore (http://bit.ly/oQkCRd). It takes less than a minute. Or without a smart phone, you can go to our Web site, www.hipgeo.com and join. But, we recommend you find some interesting people to follow..

What devices does it work on?

Right now our apps work on the iPhone and iPad. However, anyone can access the website.

When will your Android app be coming out? Is there an app for Android, Blackberry, or Windows phones? Not all of my friends have iPhones.

We’re typing as fast as we can. An Android version it is coming soon. We have no plans for Blackberry. And, a Windows version probably makes sense at some point.
