Today was a long bus trip to Orleans with some nervous energy towards the end in anticipation of meeting the host families. The host families were quick to make the students feel at home and very welcome. It was also nice for us to be able to meet with the teachers from the school in Orleans who visited us earlier this year.
Today we left Venice leaving behind the hot weather to travel north to Montafon in Austria. This is our first cool day with some rain but very beautiful as we travel through the mountains.
Last night we picnicked in a local square outside the hotel in Venice after buying foods locally. Sam and Tina busked attracting a few coins for their efforts. A late night gondola ride under the Rialto bridge and some of the small canals finished off a great night.
Due to a vaporato strike the students were able to experience a ride in the stylish water taxis to Murano, an island famous for its glass making. We watched a demonstration by a master glass maker and had time to explore the island and buy glass products. I hope you like some of the gifts they have bought for you.
