Dalarö - the heart of the southern archipelago. Wander through the small community of traditional archipelago. Here are exclusive villas side by side with small 1700s cottage. Cliffs and sandy beaches, which made Dalarö to a popular seaside resort already around the turn of the century, is still there. Here in the village, where famouse painters like Anders Zorn, August Strindberg got inspiration.
Dalaro is a quaint island community that is known for its particular environment and buildings from the 1800s. Highlights include Societetshuset with current exterior of the 1860s and the beautiful wooden church from 1652. Anders Franzen's cottage: The warship Vasa explorers used the former. salt shed from 1865 as the research house. The boathouse now houses a small museum prepared by Anders Franzen's foundation and Dalarö Folklore Society.

There are some excellent vantage points on Dalarö. The most popular is Lotsberget and viewpoint on America's Mountain. There you can enjoy the beautiful views of the nearby archipelago.

Take a trip to Dalarö mound that between 1656 and 1854 was one of Stockholm's defense fortifications. If you want to go there with a group, you can Dalaro Tourism organize guided tours for you. Dalarö is the southern archipelago's main town and the point here, the majority of boat traffic to the islands in the southern archipelago.
