The end of the Davros & The Ping Pongs European Tour 2012 (Sponsored by Chang) in Cardiff!

12th August 2012 - We arrived in London at 7.30am after a long journey by coach and ferry from Paris. This was the moment when 4 would become 2 with Jambo and Omar saying their goodbyes and heading for their trains home. Me and Jimbob shot over to KFC for a much needed breakfast (including possibly the smallest pain au chocolat I have ever seen) and managed to bag an earlier and very smart megabus home together! Bristol was the first stop where 2 became 1 with Jimbob and Davros sharing a final embrace marking the end of the Davros & The Ping Pongs European Tour 2012 (Sponsored by Chang). One word.....emotional!

Reminiscing with Davros - To think that May 5th we first met up and 21st July we started the European leg of the Ping Pong Tour. It was great to see you all again and its been an awesome three weeks taking in Amsterdam, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Zagreb, Innsbruck, Interlaken, Milan, Monaco and Paris, altogether 10 countries. Amsterdam with those bikes, coffee shops and Red Light District. Munich with those beer gardens, steins and Toni. Prague and that Pub Crawl, Omar's Fingers and "Captain Corona". Budapest and Jimbob's birthday and getting thrown out of that hostel. Zagreb with the lake and that passport check! Innsbruck the skate concert, that mullet, moustache and aftershave club and those cheeky snitzels. Interlaken whitewater rafting, canyon jumping and the gypsie. Milan, San Siro, pizza, our worst hotel and the dreaded "death lasagne". Monaco and that hotel room, the view, fireworks and harbour. And finally Paris with that hostel, those meals, that breakfast, Tour Effiel, Arc de Triomphe and the wonderful Venizuelian Cristine! Those are the places what about the people we have met along the way. Franco with his business suit, Australians Olivia, Kelly, Tim, Pat, Spaniards Martha and Havier, Ukraine Dave, Nikola and Marra from Germany, Big Toni, Welsh Bird, James the runner, the Northern girls, the other Northern girls, Cristine from Venizuela and last but not least...Gabrielle.

An amazing trip that couldn't have happened without the Pongers:

Oscar - I think we all missed Thornberry when 5 became 4, I'll always remember him for his dry humping and pear wine tasting in Munich, bike riding skills in Amsterdam and getting smashed frequently on lime cordial!

Omar - A top bloke who I've got to know more through this trip., usually through ensuring various meat based products didn't contain ham and that no photos of Omar contain alcoholic substances. I think Omar will always be remembered for "Brown Finger" (especially for me when we had to share a bed in Milan, scary!lol!) together with disco napping and buying champers for strip club dancers. "Omar....what's ya pin"!

Jambo - Dora we've come a long way since sickgate back in Bangkok. I think we will remember you for chatting up unsuspecting OAPs on trains, that party trick, and being such a laugh when hammered, including that Big Mac incident in Amsterdam and working your magic on that Austrian bird in Innsbruck.......and those red shorts (RIP....literally)!

Jimbob - I've saved this til last after my poor speech at your birthday mate. Since that first day in Bangkok until now (especially after glassgate in Zagreb) I don't think I've met such a wrongen and such a great mate. I'll always remember the bromance we shared, making sandwiches together, reminiscing about Eurocamp and Alan Partridge and that cheeky show in Interlaken (you should have given me my towel mate!lol!), to sum up...TIDY! Oh and yes RVP would get some Davros!

I think its been a great trip, thank you all for being great fellow Pongers, honestly couldn't have asked for better!

Special thanks must also go to the BIble and New Testament for their participation in the tour!

Big up to the Snape!

It just leaves me to say enjoy uni all, keep in touch, see you soon and where to next..........

Davros signing out!

Jimbob Signature Sandwich....decent!

9th August 2012 - We headed out, reserved our train and bought the essentials for breakfast and a cheeky Jimbob sandwich. The reservation fees for the Interrail are a bit naughty, at 18 euros just for this journey, so one to keep in mind fellow travellers. The Pongers arrived in Paris at 5pm. We checked into our hostel and got our bearings, then headed to the local intermarche and cooked ourselves a chicken stir-fry and met an attractive Venezuelian girl Cristine and some Americans and Danish girls, having a chilled first night in Paris.

10th August 2012 - Today the culture vultures headed out sightseeing after a hearty cooked breakfast. We hit the Arc de Triomphe, Tour Effiel with a dip in the lake and some photographs of the "attractive surroundings" (Jimbob), followed by a cheeky crepe and a "free" bus to the Louvre and Notredame. We then headed back to the ranch had le steak avec pomme frites et petit pois, avec predrinks. Then we headed out to the Moulin Rouge and Oberkampf for our last night on it and to celebrate Cristine's 22nd birthday. We hit a couple of bars and a rather rubbish nightclub which was a shame, but we had a fun night all the same, especially on the tube with our booze bag. Due to the fact that Davros and Jimbob didn't have enough money to get home, meant they had to get out of the taxi at the metro station and walk home, which should have been easy but got lost, having to ask a passer by "Ou est le metro?" and getting confused with left and right directions! Hilarious!

11th August 2012 - Today we woke up at 11.30am with hangovers to the calling for "check-out". We stayed in the hostel for as long as we could with our backpacks, had another hearty breakfast, caught up on the Olympics, kissed goodbye our Venezuelian Pongette Cristine, chilled in the Jardin de Luxembourg, before having a final bier and hitting the Megabus for a 13 hour journey home...sad times!

8th August 2012 - No one really had a great night's sleep in Milan, due to a number of factors: heat, lack of air con, noise from neighbours, traffic and nappies. In particular Jambo had a nightmare of a night after his "death lasagne", utilising the beday efficiently for vom purposes, unfortunately blocking both the beday and sink at the same time...bad times. Milan was probably our least favourite city to visit. We checked out pronto from, its safe to say, the worst place we've stayed in and headed for Monaco. We had to take a later train so headed for food, caught up on Olympic football, while Jambo lay down in the restaurant to catch up on sleep, much to the waiter's amusement. After a "free" but ill-timed strong shot we headed for Monaco. The train travelled along the coast with some amazing views, while Davros and Jimbob made Jimbob's signature sandwich. We arrived in Monaco at around 7pm and headed straight to the harbour to see the view. We checked into a swanky apartment hotel, room 315, however when Jimbob used the shower it flooded (classic Jimbob) so we were moved to room 614 instead. The view and the room was awesome for 30 quid each and the shower was the best of the trip with towel heater included!! Later that night we headed out to see the fireworks and took in the casino, palace and swanky cars with a cheeky bier at the harbour, with an amazing view. We then headed back to the hotel working out the F1 Grand Prix Track enroute, I love Monaco!!

7th August 2012 - Today we managed to get up for free coffee before 10am, result! We took in the view from our hostel one last time and checked out getting a baguette for a cheeky breakfast sandwich. We headed into the main street to pick up our free souvenir from a jeweller Bucher. We watched hangliders landing in the main square before catching our train to Milano. We arrived in Milan at 5pm, checked in and headed out on the metro taking in the sights at Duomo of Milan Cathedral and the San Siro football stadium with a cheeky pistacchio icecream en-route. Then we headed back to Duomo for pizza and lasagne then back to the hotel, unaware of the events to come that night...

Stunning views!

5th August 2012 - We checked out of Innsbruck and trekked to the station where an amazing bakery shop "Der Backer Ruetz" made an awesome omlette sandwich and coffee for breakfast. Wierd that the train platform looks straight out onto the Bergisel ski jump, you don't get that everyday. Jambo managed to offend a foreign guy with crocks while waiting for a delayed Zurich train, which subsequently led to sharing a train journey with him...awkward!! The view from the train over the Alps was immense endless mountains and lakes. When we arrived we spotted several Coop shops for Jimbob to practice his naughty sandwich making skills. We checked into our Hostel "Funny Farm" in Interlaken, it looked like Fawlty Towers but it probably is one of the best hostels we have had with spacious room with 70s "charm", a swimming pool and awesome water slide. Also Interlaken is jam packed with adventure sports ranging from parachuting to whitewater rafting. We will be doing whitewater rafting tomorrow cannot wait although me and Jimbob are debating whether to do the Glacier Bungee Jump...we will see!! After a cheeky visit to Coop we headed back to the hostel for some swimming, water slide action, much needed laundry run and a chilled night.

6th August 2012 - Today we had a cheeky lie in and then headed to whitewater rafting. Our raft consisted of both British and Norwegians and a legendary guide Southy from New Zealand. Whitewater was brilliant as the rain made it even more rapid. We finished up in a huge lake with spectacular views of Interlaken. After a "free" lunch, beers and coffee Davros gained enough courage to attempt canyon jumping with a great trio of Northern girls Alex, Skye and Brogan. Feeling slightly "tipsy" we each freefell 65ft before swinging through a canyon, an awesome experience buzzing for the rest of the day! The Ping Pongs together with the Northern girls, including Holly headed to Hooters for a cheeky pitcher of Swiss beer. Then we headed back to our hostel for predrinks (including four cans pinched from whitewater rafting by Jambo, superb effort), then onto Balmers Metro Club where we caught some Olympic Boxing before heading to an Irish pub and back to the hostel, an exhilerating but exhausting day had by all.

Stunning Austria!

3rd August 2012 - Today was one of our trickiest journeys, 2 changes, 8 hours but we got away with a private train compartment for most of the trip and Davros managed to (finally) finish his book "Along Came A Spider". Jambo worked his magic on another unsuspecting OAP passenger and a "special" person on the final leg of the journey tested our patience, especially Jimbob's. Travelling through Austria was awesome, definitely a change of landscape from Zagreb. Once we arrived we caught the "free" E bus and walked up to our accommodation. We had a cheeky nap and headed into the centre where a skate festival was on. We had a cheeky snitzel and headed to the moustache bar, famous for Einstein's and Charlie Chaplin's moustaches. Then we headed to a naughty side bar "Havana" for some cheeky Tequilas with orange and cinnamon (times three). Then onto Aftershave Club where we downed more shots, "Captain Corona" met up with Gabrielle and Jambo worked his magic with an Austrian all thanks to Jimbob's match making skills..."Have you met my mate?". A great random night finishing at around 4am.

4th August 2012 - Today we got up quite late with shot hangovers. We hiked up to Hafelekar up on the mountain side, stopping for directions from an attractive receptionist and apple strudel and pancakes enroute. Davros' espedrills took a pounding but completed the challenge sufficiently. Then we caught a "free" J bus into town where Jimbob had his hobbit leg shaved by a hen party. The culture vultures then visited the 360 degree bar to take in 360 degree views of all around Innsbruck and numerous landmarks in a huge torrential downpour, the storm heading over the mountains looked immense. We then hit a few souvenir shops and back to the hostel for a cheeky nap. That night we headed to Cafe Nikola for a cheeky snitzel and a Zipfel Beer, followed by a pint in the Hofgarden Cafe and a search for the Weekender Club, which was closed on a Saturday night!! In a slight change of plan we went bowling and had a currywurst and a much appreciated chilled night.

1st August 2012 - We arrived in Zagreb at 8pm having a nice train compartment to ourselves. Jambo finished his book "Bodies" giving him a very graphic insight into medicine ready for his degree. Omar also discussed progress with "50 Shades of Grey" essentially sex in alot of different locations and positions. We dropped everything off at our hostel right next to the train station and headed out for a nice mixed grill meal and Ozujsko pivo and caught up on some of the Olympics at one of the bars in the main square. Then we headed back for a well deserved early night.

2nd August 2012 - Today the culture vultures did some sightseeing, visiting the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary, Dolac Market, Lotrscak Tower, St Mark's Church and the Botanical Gardens. Then we headed to Jarun Lake for a swim and Davros caught a nice vest burn too. That night we managed to bag a free bottle of pivo from Josephia, an attractive receptionist at our hostel as it was her birthday. We headed out to see the Zagreb nightlife, bars were open but due to it being a Thursday alot of clubs closed early although we managed to go to a strip club where we were "screwed" out of 15 quid, Jambo was accussed of being a 14 year old homosexual, Davros was set up with a more mature dancer (aged 42) and Omar was fleeced out of 40 quid for a small bottle of champagne and a "chat" with a dancer. We swiftly left possibly the worst strip club ever and headed back to the hostel. All part of the European Experience...

Predrinks for Jimbob's Birthday

30th July 2012 - We all woke up not hungover for once and exchanged birthday greetings with Jimbob, with a "Prague Drinking Team" T-shirt as a present. A cooked breakfast was on the cards today which went down very well and headed for Budapest. For some reason our train stopped near Budapest and we had to catch a bus and local train which made the trip long and smelly for me as Jimbob pointed out to me over a cheeky Spar sandwich at Budapest station, the debut of the Jimbob sandwich! We got to the hostel at around 7pm dropped off our stuff and got our gladrags on for Jim's birthday outing while everyone decided to call Davros "Captain Corona" after leaving one of the Northern girls worse for wear over "only a few" Coronas! Predrinks from the local petrol stations covering all nationalities were consumed followed by a "free" number 5 bus into the center of Pest. Shots for Jimbob included Absinth, Sambuca, Brandy followed by lager and champagne chasers, the latter of which was subsequently downed and launched from our boat table at Bar Soda by Jimbob the wrongen. We swiftly moved onto Club Simpla, an old school club with cool decor and music. Then a kebab, strip club and home, where Oscar left with an open shirt, Jimbob offered to drive the taxi home and then vomited outside the petrol station....mission complete!

31st July 2012 - Today we visited the Szechenyi Baths in the City Park where steamrooms, saunas and ice pools sorted our hangovers and backs out after backpacking, but shrank our genitals at the same time, very cold. Then it was that time when the 5 piece became 4 with Oscar leaving for the Olympics. We can safely say that Monopoly Deal had an overall winner that was Jambo, great game though! We waved Oscar off and had pasta for tea. We then headed out to a cool chilled bar in the middle of Pest and met up with the attractive Northern girls from Prague, cue "Omar Finger" and "Captain Corona" jokes. We headed back to the Northern girls hostel with the promise of spare beds to sleep in. Unfortunately after 2 hours sleep we were thrown out for sleeping in an Aussie's bed and scaring two girls. A funny situation that didn't leave us with alot of sleep but we did get to see the sights of Budapest at 5am in the morning!

28th July - Early train, sorry bus to Prague feeling the effects of 3 hours sleep, snuck in a cheeky "free" breakfast though. Checked into Plus Prague Hostel straight on the sauna and swimming facilities. We met two room mates James from Australia who lets just say enjoyed his opinion, and a more mature lady from Aberystwyth, tidy!! We headed out on the "free" number 12 tram and worked our way through St Charles bridge and the Old Town, ending with the Prague Pub Crawl, heading to the 5 story club Karlovy Lazne, meeting up with three brilliant Northern girls Hannah, Lucy and Laura and getting rather sweaty, our 8th night out in a row was probably one of the best!!

29th July - After having a cheeky lie in due to last nights shinanigans including finger talk with Omar and "Captain Corona", the culture vultures had a sight seeing tour of Prague, including Prague Castle, Prague Tower, U Fleku Brewery, St Charles Bridge, Old Town, New Town. We finished the day by trying the Czech delicacy Goulash with a Pilsner then headed back to our hostel to do some laundry and an early night to recharge the batteries for Jimbob's Birthday in Budapest tomorrow!!

Cheeky Steins!!

25th July - We arrived at Munich at around 7pm and headed to our first beer hall the Augustiner for our first stein of many cue the FFP (First Fatal Piss) challenge. A lively event where everyone was already well oiled. Unfortunately drinking games also commenced, which meant 3 steins later we were all pretty smashed, finishing the night trying to get back to our hostel on the underground while Oscar dry humped the air!

26th July - We met three roommates today, Toni from Naples and Nicola and Marra from Germany. Talk was obviously about our sleeping habits with snoring, laughing but fortunately no phantom pisser this time. On leaving our room we bumped into the Canadian duo from Amsterdam, random . Today the culture vultures visited the Olympic Park and Tower, BMW Welt, and the Schloss nymbhbnburg. That night we headed to the main beer hall in Munich, the Hofbrauhaus, with our tour tshirts making their debut. The result was a messy night finishing at the "Potato Factory" housing 23 clubs. The Pongers were tearing up the dancefloor and ended the night sharing a burger and kebab with none other than Wayne Rooney!

27th July - Today after another cheeky free breakfast we headed to Dachau, the first Nazi Concentration Camp built in March 1933, strange how this all happened not that long ago. After a cheeky game of Monopoly Deal at the train station and a very close TC (Tactical Chunder) by Jimbob, we headed to Marienplatz, the city centre of Munich, looking at the Neues Rathaus, Frauenkirche, St Michaelkirche, the Englischer Garten and Chinese Tower, where we tried Radler and I won my first game of Monopoly Deal, an intense experience. Back at the hostel first laundry run followed by some beers out at the fountain at Marienplatz and a meal at the Ratskeller where we had Wollwurst and a sausage boiled in water due to a communication barrier with the waiter which Jambo took to heart, no worries Jambo! We ended our Munich stay with a visit to an underground club called Neuraum set in a Lidl car park...wierd but totally immense!

23rd July 2012 - We took to the bikes on a stunning sunny day. Today the culture vultures visited the Van Gogh museum. I didn't realise how many pieces of work he had, but a great visit, although Jimbob's cheeky present wasn't appreciated. Next we hit the supermarket for a variety of meat based products for the perfect picnic. We headed for Leidseplein that night with some of our hostel mates after a session at a coffee shop. Martin from Texas, Kelly and Olivia from Australia, Marta and Havier from Spain and last but not least Ukraine Dave!! A great night was had by all including the announcement that we had a phantom sink pisser in our room.............no names Oscar!

24th July 2012 - Today was a very chilled day. After dropping off our bikes we headed on a canal boat tour of Amsterdam and then chilled in the park where several intense games of Monopoly Deal took place. The current tally of winning games is Jambo 3, Oscar 2, everyone else 0, On our return to the hostel we met another room mate, Crocket from America ,who admitted to bedding three prostitutes from the Red Light District in one day for his birthday. We managed to cook pasta with meatballs without killing ourselves and played drinking games with hostel new comers, including Erin, Susie, Tim and Pat from Australia, and a very attractive girl Debbie from Brazil. Also two attractive Canadian girls, one of which Kayli played guess the age of Davros and won with an age of 18, get in!! We headed out late and partied again to the early hours, random nights are always the best!

Finally arrived!!

After a 13 hour coach trip we finally arrived at the Dam. We dropped our bags off and headed out on the number 5 "free" tram straight to the infamous Red Light District. Wow definitely an eye opener endless windows with bikini clad girls calling you over! We also tried our first "coffee shop" its so wierd how you can just smoke joints in the open, with joints and spacecakes starting at 4 euros. Our first night in Amsterdam was awesome, with so many exploits including asking a prostitute to give Oscar a birthday present for 35 euros, she was up for it though, but Oscar declined, much to the disappointment of the group! Unfortunately due to the joints and amount of alcohol consumed the Pongers can honestly say that we don't remember alot about that night, scary!
