12th August 2012 - We arrived in London at 7.30am after a long journey by coach and ferry from Paris. This was the moment when 4 would become 2 with Jambo and Omar saying their goodbyes and heading for their trains home. Me and Jimbob shot over to KFC for a much needed breakfast (including possibly the smallest pain au chocolat I have ever seen) and managed to bag an earlier and very smart megabus home together! Bristol was the first stop where 2 became 1 with Jimbob and Davros sharing a final embrace marking the end of the Davros & The Ping Pongs European Tour 2012 (Sponsored by Chang). One word.....emotional!
Reminiscing with Davros - To think that May 5th we first met up and 21st July we started the European leg of the Ping Pong Tour. It was great to see you all again and its been an awesome three weeks taking in Amsterdam, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Zagreb, Innsbruck, Interlaken, Milan, Monaco and Paris, altogether 10 countries. Amsterdam with those bikes, coffee shops and Red Light District. Munich with those beer gardens, steins and Toni. Prague and that Pub Crawl, Omar's Fingers and "Captain Corona". Budapest and Jimbob's birthday and getting thrown out of that hostel. Zagreb with the lake and that passport check! Innsbruck the skate concert, that mullet, moustache and aftershave club and those cheeky snitzels. Interlaken whitewater rafting, canyon jumping and the gypsie. Milan, San Siro, pizza, our worst hotel and the dreaded "death lasagne". Monaco and that hotel room, the view, fireworks and harbour. And finally Paris with that hostel, those meals, that breakfast, Tour Effiel, Arc de Triomphe and the wonderful Venizuelian Cristine! Those are the places what about the people we have met along the way. Franco with his business suit, Australians Olivia, Kelly, Tim, Pat, Spaniards Martha and Havier, Ukraine Dave, Nikola and Marra from Germany, Big Toni, Welsh Bird, James the runner, the Northern girls, the other Northern girls, Cristine from Venizuela and last but not least...Gabrielle.
An amazing trip that couldn't have happened without the Pongers:
Oscar - I think we all missed Thornberry when 5 became 4, I'll always remember him for his dry humping and pear wine tasting in Munich, bike riding skills in Amsterdam and getting smashed frequently on lime cordial!
Omar - A top bloke who I've got to know more through this trip., usually through ensuring various meat based products didn't contain ham and that no photos of Omar contain alcoholic substances. I think Omar will always be remembered for "Brown Finger" (especially for me when we had to share a bed in Milan, scary!lol!) together with disco napping and buying champers for strip club dancers. "Omar....what's ya pin"!
Jambo - Dora we've come a long way since sickgate back in Bangkok. I think we will remember you for chatting up unsuspecting OAPs on trains, that party trick, and being such a laugh when hammered, including that Big Mac incident in Amsterdam and working your magic on that Austrian bird in Innsbruck.......and those red shorts (RIP....literally)!
Jimbob - I've saved this til last after my poor speech at your birthday mate. Since that first day in Bangkok until now (especially after glassgate in Zagreb) I don't think I've met such a wrongen and such a great mate. I'll always remember the bromance we shared, making sandwiches together, reminiscing about Eurocamp and Alan Partridge and that cheeky show in Interlaken (you should have given me my towel mate!lol!), to sum up...TIDY! Oh and yes RVP would get some Davros!
I think its been a great trip, thank you all for being great fellow Pongers, honestly couldn't have asked for better!
Special thanks must also go to the BIble and New Testament for their participation in the tour!
Big up to the Snape!
It just leaves me to say enjoy uni all, keep in touch, see you soon and where to next..........
Davros signing out!
